BELMONT, N.H. (AP) - A prosecutor says the actions of a New Hampshire officer who fired multiple gunshots while attempting to arrest a man during a traffic stop don’t appear to be reasonable, but she says there’s insufficient evidence to prove that.

The Concord Monitor reports (https://bit.ly/2hRgT0I) Belknap County Attorney Melissa Guldbrandsen says she won’t bring charges against Officer Patrick Riley, who tried to arrest a man in October on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

Riley said after he opened the passenger side door, the driver accelerated and he was dragged about 100 feet. When he got free, he fired five shots. The driver, Hayden Moon, of Gilmanton, wasn’t struck and drove away. He was arrested Nov. 14.

Guldbrandsen said disabling the car by shooting at its tires could’ve been a more appropriate response.
