STAFFORD, Va. (AP) - A Marine returning home from deployment dressed up as Santa to surprise his 6-year-old son at school.

News outlets report Staff Sgt. David Rescott visited his son Jackson’s first grade class in Stafford County on Friday. He had been serving in Kuwait for the past eight months, and Jackson wasn’t expecting his father to be back until Jan. 8.

Costumed as Santa all the way to his eyebrows, Rescott read a Christmas story to the students. At first, Jackson didn’t recognize his father.

When asked what he wanted for Christmas, Jackson replied an Xbox and his dad.

That’s when his father slowing began removing his glasses, hat and costume hair to reveal his true identity. Jackson stared in shock until his dad pulled him in for a hug.
