HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The U.S. Attorney’s office in Hattiesburg says a Laurel man has pleaded guilty to theft of federal funds for continuing to collect disability payments after returning to his job.

Tuesday’s news release from U.S. Attorney Gregory Davis says 50-year-old Brad Douglas Gatlin concealed his return to work from the Social Security Administration.

The release says that Gatlin received compensation from his employer, a transport company, through his wife’s Social Security number - meanwhile collecting more than $214,000 in disability benefits.

Gatlin pleaded guilty in federal court Monday. He faces up to 10 years in prison at a March 7 hearing.
