COLUMBIA, Miss. (AP) - Crown Health Care Laundry Services plans to invest $800,000 in new equipment at its Marion County laundry, adding 50 jobs over three years.
The company - which opened in 2013 in Columbia and now has 200 employees - made the announcement Tuesday.
Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says the state is giving Crown $57,000 to pay for equipment installation.
Local governments aren’t providing any assistance. Marion County helped pay for renovations in 2013, while Columbia created a rate for heavy water users. The state provided $2.4 million then.
The Pensacola, Florida, company rents a 146,000 square-foot building from Marion County. Most workers make $13 to $14 an hour.
Privately-held Crown rents linens and launders those belonging to others. It has laundries in Columbia; Pensacola; Selma, Alabama; and Quitman, Georgia.
