BOSTON (AP) - A former official with the commission that provides insurance for Massachusetts’ public workers has been sentenced to three years of probation after admitting he stole more than $120,000 from the agency.

Attorney General Maura Healey says 52-year-old Ennio Manto, of Braintree, pleaded guilty on Monday to larceny over $250 and conflict of interest. He has been ordered to repay the money.

Authorities say Manto was the finance director of the Group Insurance Commission. The quasi-independent state agency provides health insurance and other benefits to state workers and retirees.

Authorities say Manto made two wire transfers last year from the agency to a company he owned and then tried to cover it up.
