POULTNEY, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a Poultney constable was chasing a speeder last week and collided with the car.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/2fK7iZy ) investigators faulted Constable Dale Kerber with causing the Nov. 23 crash.

Carol Scott told police she didn’t see flashing blue lights behind her when she sharply turned left onto a driveway, colliding with Kerber’s town-owned SUV in the process.

Kerber had been trying to pass the 65-year-old Storrs, New York woman.

Police say both drivers were wearing seat belts. Neither reported injuries.

The front end and passenger side of the SUV were damaged. Police say Scott’s sedan sustained contact damage to the front driver side corner.
