ATLANTA (AP) - A prosecutor says a man accused of fatally shooting two people in an SUV parked outside a Roswell home has pleaded guilty.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard says 34-year-old Stephen Heller pleaded guilty to two counts of malice murder Friday. He was charged in the June 2014 slayings of Nicholas Abry and Spencer Long, both 20 years old.

Abry’s mother was standing nearby and witnessed the shooting. Roswell police found Heller about 25 minutes later in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center and arrested him.

Howard’s office initially sought the death penalty for Heller, but the families of both victims asked that he receive a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. Howard’s office then agreed to allow Heller to plead guilty.
