A liberal activist group Monday launched a new campaign and website aimed at sinking President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees to Treasury and Commerce, promising to hold the incoming administration accountable on economic appointments and policies that it said will hurt America’s middle class.

Allied Progress, a liberal group focused on combating Wall Street power and influence, said the website TrumpTransparency.org would provide “extensive research and rapid response activities” targeting Treasury Secretary-designate Steven Mnuchin, Commerce Secretary-designate Wilbur Ross and Deputy Commerce Secretary-designate Todd Ricketts.

The effort underscored vehement objects from Democrats and liberal activists to Mr. Trump’s economic team and his economic agenda, although they face an uphill battle to block confirmation in the Republican-run Senate.

“President-elect Trump followed up on his campaign promise to ’drain the swamp’ by nominating a former Wall Street insider who made millions off foreclosures to oversee economic policy, a self-professed ’bankruptcy king’ to help American businesses, and someone born with a silver spoon in his mouth to be his deputy,” said Allied Progress Executive Director Karl Frisch.

“Steven Mnuchin, Wilbur Ross, and Todd Ricketts represent the Wall Street insiders and billionaire class that Candidate Trump attacked relentlessly throughout the campaign. Ahead of their confirmation hearings, Allied Progress will work to make sure the press and public know who these individuals are and the damage they would do to our economy if confirmed,” he said.
