SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Brandon Clarke scored 24 points, including a put-back bucket just ahead of the buzzer, to lift San Jose State to a 77-76 win over Bowling Green on Sunday.

San Jose State (6-4) led by 18 in the second half before Bowling Green rallied, taking its first lead since before the break with a 10-2 spurt capped by Wes Alcegaire’s layup to make it 66-63 with 5:14 left. The Spartans responded with a 3-pointer from Isaac Thornton to spark a 10-2 run of their own before Bowling Green edged ahead one last time, 76-75, on Zack Denny’s layup with eight seconds to go.

After a timeout, the Spartans’ Jalen James missed the layup but Clarke, who finished with 14 rebounds, was there for the winner.

Ryan Welage finished with 14 points for San Jose State, while Thornton and Gary Williams Jr. scored 10 apiece.

Denny and Alcegaire led Bowling Green (4-7) with 16 points apiece.
