PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - The Maryland State Police says its troopers have responded to hundreds crashes across the state during a weekend of wintery weather.

State Police said in a statement that from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday, troopers responded to 377 traffic crashes. State Police says 56 crashes involved personal injury.

The Maryland State Police says the largest crash troopers responded to happened at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday when 15 vehicles were involved in a crash on the inner loop of I-695 at Route 702. State Police say the crash happened when drivers lost control of their vehicles because of black ice in the area. Nine people were taken to a hospital, but none of the injuries were reported to be serious.
