DALLAS, Ore. (AP) - The Latest on an officer and suspect shot in Dallas, Oregon (all times local):

9:25 p.m.

Authorities say a suspect is dead and an officer was shot and wounded after a DUI traffic stop at a Wal-Mart in Dallas, Oregon.

Oregon State Police say an adult male suspect was shot after the “situation escalated.” The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the Dallas Police Officer who was shot in the leg was expected to survive. Police wouldn’t confirm if the three officers involved fired at the suspect.

No further information was immediately available.

Authorities say three officers were conducting a DUI traffic stop at a Wal-Mart in Dallas, Oregon, when the situation escalated and one officer and a suspect were shot.

Oregon State Police Lt. Bob Charpentier said in a brief statement to news outlets Friday night that the officer was shot in the leg during the incident at about 5:45 p.m. He says the officer is expected to survive.

Charpentier did not identify the officer or suspect and did not release information about the condition or whereabouts of the suspect.

It was unclear who fired the gunshots and Charpentier took no questions from the media.

Dallas is about 15 miles west of Salem.

Authorities say a police officer and a suspect have been wounded in a shooting about 15 miles west of Salem in Dallas.

Oregon State Police said on Twitter that an officer with the Dallas Police Department and a suspect were injured near a Wal-Mart Friday evening.

Police tweeted that multiple agencies are on the scene, which they described as an “unfolding situation.”
