MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota residents are bracing for the coldest wind chills they’ve seen in two years, as some areas are digging out from about 6 inches of snow.

On Saturday, temperatures in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area are expected to drop to 20 degrees below zero. The National Weather Service says the wind chill will make it feel as cold as minus-35.

Forecasters say that in parts of greater Minnesota, temperatures could drop to 45 degrees below zero. Motorists across the state have been advised to stay indoors for the weekend.

One person died after a crash on an icy road near Brainerd. The car that person was in drifted over the center line on Highway 371 and hit a semi-trailer on Friday.

Cold temperatures will persist into Sunday. Minneapolis closed Sunday’s Holidazzle events due to the cold.
