DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Supreme Court won’t hear a last-ditch appeal to let the state’s electors vote for someone besides Hillary Clinton.
A judge this week ruled that the state’s nine electors could be replaced if they don’t vote for Clinton when the Electoral College meets Monday. Clinton won Colorado’s popular vote, and state law requires the winner to get Colorado’s electoral votes.
A pair of electors challenged the law. They want to join with Republicans and vote for a compromise candidate rather than make Donald Trump president.
But they’ve lost every legal case. They appealed the lower-court judge’s ruling Thursday.
Trump won 306 electors to Clinton’s 232 nationwide.
