SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California’s unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent in November.

The state Employment Development Department says that’s down from 5.5 percent in October and from 5.9 percent in November 2015.

The department says the state’s employers added 13,600 nonfarm payroll jobs last month.

Nationwide, the unemployment rate fell to a nine-year low of 4.6 percent last month.
