Julio Jones won’t play for the Atlanta Falcons in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The NFL’s most productive receiver is dealing with turf toe, and it didn’t improve enough to get him on the field for the Falcons (7-5).
Jones has 72 catches for a league-best 1,253 yards - 165 yards more than the closest receiver.
Jones’ absence is a boost for the Rams’ beleaguered defense, as is the absence of Mohamed Sanu, the Falcons’ No. 2 receiver. Sanu, who is fighting a groin injury, has caught 49 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns.
The Rams are missing two key defensive starters: Robert Quinn is missing his second game with a concussion, and E.J. Gaines is out with a thigh injury.
Starting offensive lineman T.J. Lang is active for the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Seattle Seahawks. Lang has missed the past three games with a foot injury.
Linebacker Clay Matthews (shoulder) is also active for the Packers, though starting inside linebacker Blake Martinez will miss a third straight game with a knee injury.
Green Bay has only listed six inactive players, with a roster spot open following the NFL’s suspension of defensive lineman Mike Pennel for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
For New Orleans, wide receiver Michael Thomas is out with a foot injury. Thomas leads the Saints with 69 catches for 831 yards this season
