He might not be old enough to vote yet, but the 11-year-old boy who put Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on the spot Thursday says he’s all aboard the Trump train.
“I’m full on with the Trump campaign,” Matthew Schricker, who asked the GOP vice presidential nominee a question at a North Carolina event Thursday, said Friday on CNN’s “New Day.”
Mr. Schricker, sporting a Donald Trump pin on his jacket, appeared on the program with his mother Mary, who said she was “very proud” of him.
Mr. Schricker told Mr. Pence at a town hall event in Raleigh Thursday it looked like he’s been softening up on some of Mr. Trump’s policies and words, and asked him if that was going to be his role in the administration.
Mr. Pence responded that he’s “shoulder to shoulder” with Mr. Trump and that differences in style shouldn’t be mistaken for differences in conviction.
Mr. Schricker said he wasn’t trying to be hostile or accuse him of anything.
“I think that I just wanted to see if Mr. Trump was approving of it, and I think that’s what he’s doing, and I think he balances the ticket out a little bit,” he said. “And I think that’s very good for the Trump campaign.”
He said he’s OK with Mr. Trump’s style.
“I really think that listening to a few bad words coming out of Donald Trump is a lot better than people getting blown up by terrorists, people getting burned alive, heads being chopped off, and people getting drowned,” he said.
