GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is heading to Detroit to keep up his recent outreach to African-Americans, planning an event on Saturday at Great Faith Ministries church.

Mr. Trump is to be interviewed by Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, president and CEO of the Impact Network, an African-American owned and operated national Christian television network, at the church.

Mr. Trump will answer questions on topics like education, unemployment and “making our streets safe,” according to Pastor Mark Burns, a Trump supporter.

“He will then give an address to outline policies that will impact minorities and the disenfranchised in our country,” Mr. Burns said in a statement released by the Trump campaign. “Citizens around the country will see, as I’ve have seen, the heart and compassion Mr. Trump has for all Americans, which includes minority communities whose votes have been taken for granted for far too long.”

Mr. Trump has made a concerted effort to reach out to African-Americans in recent speeches. Last week, he called Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton a “bigot” who “sees people of color only as votes.”
