Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said Monday that you can add former Secretary of State Colin Powell’s distancing himself from one of Hillary Clinton’s excuses for her private email set-up to “the book of Clinton lies.”
“We add that to the book of Clinton lies,” Mr. Giuliani said on “Fox and Friends.” “That’ll be like the new play next year.”
“You know, Book of Mormon — book of Clinton lies,” he said. “Except that’ll be a one-week-long play. I can’t count ’em by now. … She lies every day.”
Mrs. Clinton has cited the fact that people like Mr. Powell used private email as an excuse for her own private system and server she used as secretary of state, though Mr. Powell did not exclusively use a private server run out of his home as Mrs. Clinton did.
“Her people have been trying to pin it on me,” Mr. Powell told People magazine at an event in the Hamptons over the weekend.
Last week, The New York Times reported that Mrs. Clinton told FBI investigators that Mr. Powell had advised her to use a personal email account.
Mr. Powell told People Magazine that Mrs. Clinton had been using the private set-up for a year before he sent her a memo outlining what he did.
“Why do you think?” Mr. Powell said. “It doesn’t bother me. But it’s OK; I’m free.”
