Donald Trump on Tuesday said Hillary Clinton’s plan to tackle the nation’s infrastructure problems isn’t aggressive enough, saying at least twice as much money as Mrs. Clinton is proposing is needed for the effort.

“We are going to rebuild our infrastructure,” Mr. Trump said on Fox Business Network. “By the way, her numbers [are] a fraction of what we’re talking about. We need much more money than that to rebuild our infrastructure.”

Late last year, Mrs. Clinton unveiled a five-year, $275 billion infrastructure plan, with a goal of leveraging $25 billion of that money in a national infrastructure bank to bring the plan to a total of up to $500 billion in “federally supported investment.”

Asked how much he’s talking about, Mr. Trump said: “I would say at least double her numbers, and you’re going to really need more than that.”

“We have bridges that are falling down,” he said. “We have many, many bridges that are in danger of falling.”

Asked where the money is going to come from, Mr. Trump said: “We’re going to have to go out with a fund, we’ll get a fund. We’ll make a phenomenal deal with a low interest rate. And we’re going to have to rebuild our infrastructure. We have no choice.”

Asked who would put money into the fund, he said: “People. Investors. People would put money into the fund.”

“The citizens would put money into the fund, and we will rebuild our infrastructure with that fund and it’ll be a great investment, and it’s going to put a lot of people to work,” he said.

He said “infrastructure bonds” would be sold.

“We have to fix our infrastructure, but we have to fix it [without] cost overruns,” he said. “We have to get it done properly.”
