Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are slated to participate in a prime-time forum on Sept. 7 in New York hosted by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), an advocacy group with a focus on post-9/11 veterans.
The major-party presidential nominees will appear back-to-back during the one-hour event and will take questions about national security, military affairs and veterans issues, the group said.
The questions will come from NBC News, which is broadcasting the event, and an audience of mainly military veterans and active service members.
“IAVA members worldwide, 93 percent of whom say they’ll be voting in November, and many deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan right now, are ready to hear from the candidates and hold them accountable,” said Paul Rieckhoff, founder and CEO of the group.
The American Legion also announced recently that Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton have both accepted invitations to the veteran service group’s national convention, held in Cincinnati, Ohio from Aug. 26-Sept. 1, and are scheduled to attend the event as guest speakers.
