Complaining of inconsistencies in their stories to police, a Brazilian judge has ordered two U.S. swimmers who were robbed at gunpoint to remain in the country, USA Today reported Wednesday.

Swimmer Ryan Lochte, however, has already returned to the United States, while it is unclear whether or not teammate Jimmy Feigen is still in Brazil.

Judge Keyla Blank “wrote in her filing that there were discrepancies about the time when [the swimmers] left France House and arrived at the athletes’ village,” USA Today said.

“They arrived with their psychological and physical integrity unperturbed,” Ms. Blank wrote in a court document, USA Today reported. The newspaper added that from what the judge saw on the video, “the swimmers appeared to be joking with each other and did not appear to be upset.”

But as Reuters reported on Monday, Mr. Lochte told NBC’s “Today” show that he was rather blasé about the whole ordeal.

“I was like, we didn’t do anything wrong, so I’m not getting down on the ground,” Mr. Lochte in the interview, Reuters reported. “And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead.”

It was then that, “I put my hands up, and was like, ’Whatever,’ ” said the veteran U.S. Olympian.

In a London Olympics profile piece back in 2012, The Associated Press described Mr. Lochte as “easygoing” with a “goofy nature” and a laid-back “surfer dude” presence.
