While President Obama has been quiet so far about two nights of rioting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said Monday that minorities and police must “rebuild” trust.
“Look at what’s happening in Milwaukee right now,” Mrs. Clinton said at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania. “We have urgent work to rebuild trust between police and communities and get back to a fundamental principle: everyone should have respect for the law and be respected by the law.”
Mr. Obama has been mum about the riots, but he’ll speak out for Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy Monday night at a Democratic fundraiser.
Mr. Obama is again playing golf Monday on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, where he’s spending two weeks of vacation with his family. The White House said Sunday that the president was briefed by an adviser about the rioting before he played golf.
But Mr. Obama hasn’t commented about the violence and racial unrest, that was sparked by the police shooting Saturday of an armed black man.
In a second night of protests, police arrested 14 people in Milwaukee Sunday night, with reports of gunfire that wasn’t returned by officers.

The president will attend a fundraiser on Martha’s Vineyard Monday night for Mrs. Clinton, an event that has been scheduled for weeks.
