OPINION:
The same year Bill and Hillary Clinton gave $42,000 in charity to the Desert Classic Charities, that charity turned around and cut the Clinton Foundation a $700,000 check, according to Desert Classic Charities’ tax returns.
Talk about a return on investment.
The $700,000 donation to the Clinton Foundation was to be dedicated to a “childhood obesity program,” according to Desert Classic Charities’ 990, with no further details given.
The Clintons have come under fire for their spending on charity, as 96 percent of what they gave actually went to the Clinton Family Foundation. According to their newly released tax returns, the Clintons gave $1 million to their Family Foundation and the other $42,000 to Desert Classic Charities. Doug Band, a Clinton Foundation adviser and Bill Clinton’s longtime assistant, was on the board of directors of that organization through 2014, according to IRS filings.
If you follow the money trail, it never gets too far away from the Clintons and, as this example shows, only seems to grow in size.
