A fight with a producer has led to actor Thomas Gibson being fired from “Criminal Minds,” the Daily Mirror reported Friday, citing a studio statement.
Mr. Gibson, an original cast member on the long-running CBS show, reportedly kicked the producer during a heated argument.
“Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date,” the Mirror quoted the statement, noting that producers have yet to figure out how they are going to write off Mr. Gibson’s character, FBI Special Agent Aaron Hotchner. Mr. Gibson’s character will likely appear in two already-filmed episodes, according to the mirror.
It was reported Thursday that Mr. Gibson would be temporarily suspended from the production of the crime procedural, and that he would he not be directing any additional episodes.
“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred,” Mr. Gibson told Hollywood gossip site TMZ.com Thursday. “We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will.”
This isn’t the first time Mr. Gibson has reportedly had the temper get the better of him on the job. Deadline Hollywood reported Thursday that he was accused years ago of pushing another producer and had to attend anger management classes, but remained on the show.
“Criminal Minds” kicks off its 12th season on Sept. 28.
