Scientists are divided over whether, in theory, the universe can keep expanding forever or whether it will inevitably reach an outer limit and then contract down to nothingness in a Big Crunch. While Hollywood watchers may be similarly divided, it seems CBS sees an ever-expanding horizon for its CBS’s award-winning nerd comedy, “The Big Bang Theory.”
“We are very confident that everyone involved wants more Big Bang past year 10 and I know Warner Bros. will make those deals,” E! News quoted CBS executive Glenn Geller, who spoke at the 2016 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour.
“We’ll put it on for as long as everyone wants Big Bang on the air,” Mr. Geller told reporters, E! said. “I hope it lasts forever.”
“CBS can use the show: It has yet to develop a major hit that can replace the dominant sitcom,” USA Today observed in a story published Wednesday. “Big Bang Theory averaged 20.6 million viewers last season when 7-day delayed viewing is factored in, one of only two network series to top 20 million.”
“Big Bang” will premiere on Monday, Sept. 19.
