A new promotional ad for “The Simpsons” features Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump as a Nazi sympathizer.

Fox Animation’s “3 a.m.” commercial features Homer and Marge trying to decide which presidential candidate would be better equipped to handle a crisis. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton tells Bill Clinton that she is in charge — “always” — while Mr. Trump is seen in bed with “Great Speeches by A. Hitler.”

“Put my name on the Lincoln Memorial, make Chris Christie eat a worm just for laughs, disband NATO, and make me some scrambled eggs in a gold plate,” Mr. Trump says when his presence is requested in the Situation Room.

The billionaire fails to respond to the crisis because it takes a gaggle of aides too long to make him presentable.

“We’re too late? The Chinese fleet is advancing? Just build another wall. Yes, in the ocean — loser,” the billionaire barks into his cellphone.

Homer then tells Marge he plans to vote for Mr. Trump, but when she puts the family dog between them he says, “And that’s how I became a Democrat.”

“The Simpsons” has regularly lampooned politicians since it first debuted in 1989. Business Insider noted, however, that Sunday’s commercial is “darker than anything we’ve seen from John Oliver, Stephen Colbert,” or other late-night comedians.

The Hitler joke was likely inspired by a 1990 Vanity Fair piece that referenced the billionaire’s ex-wife, Ivana. She allegedly told her lawyer that Mr. Trump owned a collection of Hitler’s speeches. The Vanity Fair article also said former Paramount head Marty Davis then gave the billionaire “My New Order.”

Season 28 of “The Simpsons” should premier in late September. The 600th episode will air soon afterward.
