GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Wednesday he plans to borrow lines from Sen. Bernard Sanders going forward and reiterated his suggestion that Mr. Sanders launch an independent bid for the White House.
“Bernie Sanders has a message that’s interesting. I’m going to be taking a lot of the things that Bernie said and using them,” Mr. Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I can re-read some of his speeches, and I can get some very good material.”
Mr. Trump said Mr. Sanders has said some things about Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton that are “actually surprising.”
“Essentially, she has no right to even be running, and that she’s got bad judgment,” Mr. Trump said. “When he said ’bad judgment,’ I said, ’sound bite.’ “
“Bernie has been very effective but treated very badly by the Democrats and by the Democratic party,” Mr. Trump said. “And frankly, he should run as an independent, I think.”
Mr. Trump tightened his grip on the GOP presidential nomination by rolling to wins in five states Tuesday. Mrs. Clinton, meanwhile, cemented her own front-runner status by winning in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut, with Mr. Sanders notching a win in Rhode Island.
