The old paper ballot system has been working smoothly as residents from around Prince George’s County cast votes in today’s primary elections.

Phyllis Dumas, a volunteer poll worker at Kenmoor Middle School, said that bubble sheets have replaced touch screen computers.

Voters must fill out their sheets and then scan them before leaving to ensure that the circles were shaded properly.

“We have not had one single problem,” Ms. Dumas said. “[The voters] act like we’ve been doing this all along.

Gia Irving, 20, voted for the first time today at Greater Lighthouse Church in Lanham.

“It was pretty easy,” Ms. Irving said. “Hopefully my vote counts.”
