GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump announced Monday that he has hired Ken McKay, who managed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s 2016 presidential campaign, as a senior adviser to support Mr. Trump’s delegate operations team.
“Ken has a proven track record in winning state political races. He will support our delegate operations team and bolster our ground game efforts. He brings tremendous experience to the job, and I know he is up to the task of working with my team,” Mr. Trump said in a statement.
Mr. McKay said in a statement he’s “very honored” to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Trump “and such a resilient campaign.”
“There is no question that he is the presumptive nominee, and will unify our party to take back the White House in November,” Mr. McKay said.
The move is the latest in a series of hirings of seasoned GOP operatives by the Trump campaign as the primary process moves closer to the Republican convention in July, and as candidates steel for a potential open convention.
Last month, the Trump campaign announced the hiring of Paul Manafort, a longtime GOP hand, to serve as the campaign’s convention manager. Earlier this month, the campaign announced it was bringing on Rick Wiley, who managed the 2016 presidential campaign of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, to serve as national political director.
Mr. Christie has endorsed Mr. Trump in the race, while Mr. Walker endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz ahead of the April 5 Wisconsin primary.
