Speaking in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump recalled telling Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that he might have killed a tree with an errant tee shot.

“Hey, how good is Ben? Big Ben — do we love Big Ben?” Mr. Trump said at a rally. “Big Ben — I’m just saying ’cause he’s a friend of mine.”

“I played golf with him a couple of times. He actually hit a drive and it went right — it hit a tree. It was a massive tree,” Mr. Trump said. “The ball hit the tree so hard, I said ’Ben, that tree will be dead within two years’ … the noise was scary.”

“But Big Ben is great, and he’s a winner. He’s a winner,” Mr. Trump said. “He’s a big winner, so say hello to Big Ben.”

Harrisburg is about twice as far away from Pittsburgh as it is from Philadelphia, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Even in stops outside of New England, Mr. Trump also likes to talk up New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and got some boos after mentioning Mr. Brady earlier this week in Maryland, the home of the Baltimore Ravens.
