At a rally in Buffalo Monday evening, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump inadvertently made a reference to “7/11” as he was talking about the response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York.
“I think what I want to do is I want to talk just for a second - I wrote this out and it’s very close to my heart because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down on 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down,” Mr. Trump said.
“And I saw the greatest people I’ve ever seen in action,” he said, continuing on with his address. “I saw the bravest people I’ve ever seen, including the construction workers - including every person down there. That’s what New York values [are] about.”
Ahead of the New York GOP presidential primary Tuesday, Mr. Trump has repeatedly hammered Sen. Ted Cruz for saying before the Iowa caucuses that Mr. Trump embodied “New York values”
Mr. Trump said Monday that Mr. Cruz “hates New York.”
“No New Yorker can vote for Ted Cruz,” he said.
