OPINION:
The left would like you to believe you can’t be a woman and a Republican, and that if you’re pro-life you can’t be a feminist.
And the words they use in explaining this are so cutting and divisive.
At a campaign event for Hillary Clinton on Monday, Cecile Richards, the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation said: “A woman voting for Ted Cruz is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.”
I’m at a loss for exactly what she means – is she implying that Mr. Cruz, being profoundly pro-life, wants to kill young women? And then eat them? What?
This sort of speech is so outrageous. And wrong. And clearly meant to stir up emotions rather than to have an educated, civil debate.
Ms. Richards should do better.
Last week, in order to raise funds for the abortion provider, Planned Parenthood sent out an email identifying Mr. Cruz as its “biggest threat” this election cycle. It cited his call to dry up its federal funding and investigate its practices as the reason.
“Cruz could very well be the biggest threat we face,” the abortion activist wrote to prospective donors, explaining that 73 percent of his supporters would like to ban abortion in all or most cases.
So, apparently, the war is on – between Planned Parenthood and any Republican woman who is supporting Mr. Cruz.
