First no Bruce Springsteen concert, now no XHamster.com porn.
The popular pornography site has blocked North Carolina IP addresses since 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to a report in the Huffington Post, in order to punish the state’s porn hounds over the bathroom bill.
North Carolinians seeking to indulge now get a black screen, which the company plans to replace with a petition demanding the repeal of HB2, the bill that requires segregated public facilities, such as bathrooms and locker rooms, to divide according to biological sex not gender identity.
XHamster.com spokesman Mike Kulich told the Post in a statement that “these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate. Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one.”
According to Mr. Kulich, XHamster received 400,000 searches for the term “transsexual” and 319,000 for “gay.”
North Carolina is facing numerous boycotts over its bathroom bill, most notably from Mr. Springsteen, who cancelled a Greensboro concert over the new law.
“I think that porn has the power to do what Bruce Springsteen can’t,” Mr. Kulich said.
