Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors in June in order to resolve a case in which he hit a bicyclist, fled the scene, then threatened a citizen with brass knuckles in Santa Clara, California in March 2014.
Culliver’s attorney requested that the single felony count of possession of brass knuckles be reduced, and the judge in the case granted that request. When the case was resolved on June 30, Culliver pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of brass knuckles and misdemeanor hit-and-run, according to Santa Clara County deputy district attorney Jaron Shipp.
Culliver was sentenced to informal court probation for two years and was ordered to do 40 hours of community service. Lastly, Culliver was ordered to pay restitution to the victims of the hit-and-run.
Informal court probation means that Culliver does not have to answer to a probation officer. However, if he is arrested again before the probation ends, the probationary sentencing can be revoked.
The Redskins signed Culliver to a four-year contract worth up to $32 million in March.
