According to a recent defector from the hermit regime of North Korea, Kim Jong-un’s brutal purge of the elite upper-echelon ranks within the Stalinist state has weakened his support among those in power and the people themselves. This weakness will cause the unstable dictator to be assassinated from within to protect the elite’s future, says the defector, a former member of the North Korea’s powerful inner circle.
“I can tell you for sure, the North Korean regime will collapse within 10 years,” CNN quotes the man as saying in a recent interview. “Kim Jong-un is mistaken that he can control his people and maintain his regime by executing his enemies. There’s fear among high officials that at any time, they can be targets. The general public will continue to lose their trust in him as a leader by witnessing him being willing to kill his own uncle.”
The defector suggests that of all the North Korean dictators, this regime is the most unstable, murdering members of his own family in a bid to maintain absolute fear and control over even those the most closest to him, which obviously Kim Jong-un fears. Ironically, this fear and paranoia may bring on the result the dictator is most worried about, an internal coup and assassination.
The Dear Leader gave the people hope at the outset of his regime that things would be different and life would improve, but that was a false image, the defector explains.
“There is no collapse of North Korea while Kim Jong-un is alive,” he said. “We can only expect the opening or reform of North Korea when Kim Jong-un is removed by an external power. North Korea will not collapse as long as Kim Jong-un lives.”
