Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said he doesn’t have time to analyze GOP presidential rival Donald Trump, but it’s clear the billionaire businessman is a “very insecure person.”
“It’s very clear he’s a very insecure person. He doesn’t like to be criticized,” Mr. Rubio said on Tuesday evening’s “Hannity” program on Fox News. “You know, the presidency’s a tough job. You’re [going to] be criticized, and you can’t flip out every time somebody says something about you. He does. And that’s his problem — I don’t have time to kind of analyze why that is, but that’s the reality of it.”
The two 2016 GOP contenders have been trading barbs recently. Mr. Trump called Mr. Rubio a “clown” last week, prompting boos from the crowd at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., but he has said it was Mr. Rubio who came after him first.
“He had a bad week, you know he got booed. … He had very few people show up to an event he gave,” Mr. Rubio said. “Just today, Tom Brady said he’s not endorsing Donald Trump despite these reports. … So he’s [a] very sensitive guy and that’s fine, that’s his problem. I’m not going to worry about it.”
