GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday he doesn’t mind being criticized if he does something wrong, but that he believes in correcting people when he’s right or doesn’t deserve criticism.
“I don’t mind being criticized, and I don’t mind it at all,” Mr. Trump said on CNN’s “New Day.” “And I won’t use names, but there are certain people that criticize unfairly. If I do something wrong … I have very thick skin. I don’t mind being criticized. I’ll never, ever complain.”
“I know when I do something wrong. I’m a smart person. I mean, I do something wrong — I do things wrong — and when I do, I don’t mind. They can come at me 15 different ways,” he said. “But when I’m right or when I don’t deserve something, I think it’s very, very unfair to speak incorrectly. So I will correct people. I believe in that.”
The comments came amid Mr. Trump’s latest feud with Fox News, who he says is treating him unfairly. Mr. Trump has also been going after National Review editor Rich Lowry since Wednesday night, when Mr. Lowry said on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” that former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina “cut his b—— off with the precision of surgeon, and he knows it” during the GOP debate earlier this month.
Mr. Trump took to Twitter last night demanding an apology from Fox, saying Mr. Lowry should not be on television and saying that he should be fined by the Federal Communications Commission.
Asked Thursday what was the last thing he’s done wrong in the campaign, Mr. Trump said: “Um … well … I don’t know — I’d rather not get into that.”
“I’m sure I’ve made mistakes, although look, I’m leading in every single poll,” he said, saying he’s “absolutely killing” former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida in a poll on their home state.
“So I don’t know — I mean, what have I done wrong, I can think of, I guess, some things that I might have done a little bit differently, but overall, we’re very happy with the campaign,” Mr. Trump said.
