Washington Redskins linebacker Perry Riley is listed as questionable for Thursday night’s game against the New York Giants with a left calf injury.
Riley sustained the injury in Sunday’s 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams and did not participate in practices this week. However, Riley said on Tuesday that if the game were to be played that day, he would have been ready to go.
If Riley does not play, the Redskins will have just three inside linebackers for the game — Keenan Robinson, Will Compton and Terrance Plummer. Martrell Spaight was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday because of a concussion he sustained in the team’s season-opening loss.
Plummer, an undrafted rookie from UCF, took his place and played 24 special teams snaps. He has yet to play a defensive snap this season.
Cornerback Justin Rogers, who battled plantar fasciitis in the season opener against the Miami Dolphins, is out for the second consecutive game.
Right tackle Tom Compton is listed as questionable with a calf injury. He hasn’t played in a game this season since injuring his calf against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the final game of the preseason, then re-injuring it in practice.
Right tackle Morgan Moses (unspecified knee injury), cornerback DeAngelo Hall (bruised ribs), nose tackle Terrance Knighton (bruised ribs), left guard Shawn Lauvao (unspecified calf injury) and center Kory Lichtensteiger (unspecified finger injury) are all listed as probable.
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson, as expected, is listed as out as he recovers from a strained left hamstring.
The Giants have five players out on Thursday. Wide receiver Victor Cruz, who has not played since Week 6 of last season after tearing a patellar tendon, injured a calf in training camp and will not play on Thursday.
The other four are tight end Jerome Cunningham (knee), defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (knee), defensive end Owa Odighizuwa (foot) and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (concussion).
Left tackle Ereck Flowers, the Giants’ first-round draft pick this year, is doubtful with an ankle injury. Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters on Tuesday that he would be conservative with Flowers, who injured his ankle in the Giants’ opener and re-injured it Week 2 against the Falcons.
Right guard Geoff Schwartz (illness), linebacker Jon Beason (knee), tight end Daniel Fells (foot), defensive tackle Jay Bromley (knee) and defensive end Cullen Jenkins (hamstring) are all listed as probable.
