In another leg of an attack on Republican presidential rival Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s campaign makes a reference to Mr. Trump’s acknowledged germophobia.
It comes in the form of a question on Mr. Bush’s campaign website in a section with the header “Which candidate are you?” — another way Mr. Bush is highlighting Mr. Trump’s past support for liberal positions on issues such as abortion.
The Bush campaign said the quiz is up on Facebook and they are targeting people who like pages related to Mr. Trump in the early presidential states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada.
The final question in a list of seven asks “Would you rather support a candidate who” “strives to shake every hand everywhere” or one who “is a germophobe when it comes to shaking hands.”
Another asks, “Would you rather support a candidate who” “said they were ’very pro-choice,’ ” a reference to an old clip featuring Mr. Trump, or one who “was strongly a pro-life governor and defunded Planned Parenthood.”
Based on the answers to the seven questions, you can submit your email address and ZIP code and get a final answer on which candidate supposedly has more of which positions.
Results are either Jeb Bush, “a conservative reformer for president who will actually get results.”
Or, if you get Donald Trump, “you have clear Democratic tendencies,” the site says.
“You’re looking for the candidate who proposed record new tax hikes, supported single-payer health care, and supported an assault weapons ban,” the site says. “You’ve found your man in Donald Trump.”
Speaking on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday, Mr. Trump said Mr. Bush “had really no choice” but to start attacking him.
“He’s doing very poorly in the polls, he’s a very low-energy kind of guy, and he had to do something,” Mr. Trump said. “So far everybody that’s attacked me has gone down. Let’s see what happens here.”
