ASHBURN — Washington Redskins cornerback Justin Rogers and inside linebacker Martrell Spaight will miss Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams, coach Jay Gruden said on Friday.
Rogers battled plantar fasciitis in last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins and did not participate in practice all week.
The Redskins anticipated his absence early in the week and signed cornerback Will Blackmon on Tuesday. Blackmon was cut by the Seattle Seahawks before they finalized their 53-man roster earlier this month.
Spaight missed practice all week because of a concussion and Gruden said there’s a possibility inside linebacker Terrance Plummer is signed off the practice squad before the game on Sunday.
“We’ll talk about that when I’m done here, but obviously, we’d like to go into the game with four inside linebackers, so that’s a probability that happens,” Gruden said.
Gruden also said nose tackle Terrance Knighton and tight end Jordan Reed are questionable for Sunday. Knighton had a sore rib and was limited in practice the last two days. He did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Reed was limited on Friday after he injured a quad on Thursday. Gruden said it was “minor” on Thursday and on Friday, he seemed optimistic about his availability.
“It’s a muscle, so there’s always concern there,” Gruden said. “He did some good things today so we have reason for hope.”
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who injured a rib on Sunday, finished practice for the second consecutive day after being limited on Wednesday. Gruden said he is probable for Sunday.
Left tackle Trent Williams, center Kory Lichtensteiger and outside linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat were all full participants on Friday. Jeffcoat (bruised right thigh) was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
Offensive lineman Tom Compton is also questionable and was limited on Friday, as he was the last two days. He was inactive Week 1.
