Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday he thought he was treated fairly at Wednesday’s GOP debate in California but that he got too much airtime, saying professional wrestling tycoon Vince McMahon would have loved how things played out.

“Well, I thought I was treated fairly,” Mr. Trump said via phone on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I thought I was on too much. I felt badly for everybody else. Every question had to do with me. Even the first characters, I mean, everything was about Trump. And then they go into this debate and there [were] split screens all over the place. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was a little bit unfair to a lot of other people, frankly. But I think from my standpoint, I was treated fairly.”

After the first GOP debate in Ohio last month, Mr. Trump ended up feuding with Fox News and host Megyn Kelly, one of the questioners, over what he felt was an unfair line of questioning.

“They’ve taken every sentence I said over the last five months that was, you know, tough and put it to the other people,” he said. “Vince McMahon would have loved it, [because] it’s a WWE kind of a thing. But I was involved with virtually every question. So it was really a little bit wild. Actually a couple of them came up and they said, ’You know what Donald — next time, can I hit you so that I can get a little more time?’ [because] some of these guys I felt badly — a lot of them are friends of mine and they got, they got no air time last night.”
