DAVIE, Fla. — An NFL spokesman said the league will take no action against Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh after he dislodged Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris’ helmet.
The contact by Suh following a play was determined not to be a kick, the league said Monday following a review of the incident.
Suh tackled Morris following a nine-yard run with 3:35 remaining in the second quarter, and when Suh rose, his right leg made contact with Morris’ helmet, which came off.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he didn’t see anything by Suh that warranted disciplinary action.
“Sometimes things happen in the course of a football game that look like they’re dirty, but it’s just part of the game,” Gruden said. “I’ve got a lot of respect for that football team and that staff. They beat us, so I’m not going to make any accusations.”
The incident Sunday drew national attention because Suh, who was making his Dolphins debut, is regarded as one of the NFL’s dirtiest players.
He lost $420,669 in fines and suspensions for on-field misbehavior while with the Detroit Lions, and was nearly suspended for their playoff game at the Dallas Cowboys last season.
