Democratic presidential front runner Hillary Clinton trolled her Republican counterparts by sending them books of her memoir “Hard Choices” addressed to their formal, not preferred names, “Piyush Jindal,” “Rafael E. Cruz,” “Cara C. Fiorina,” “John E. Bush, and “Randal H. Paul M.D,” among others.
The mailing was in response to GOP candidates asking her to name an accomplishment – a question that has stumped many Democrat supporters and pundits alike.
“I understand that you and your fellow Republican candidates for president were questioning my record of accomplishments at your last debate, so I thought you might enjoy reading my book, Hard Choices,” the letter addressed to the GOP candidates from Clinton, released by her campaign Tuesday reads.
The stunt was largely laughed off by the Republican candidates.
Mr. Cruz took to Twitter to say: “We’ll gladly return the favor and send @hillaryclinton’scampaign #AtimeforTruth,” Mr. Cruz’s new book.
Mr. Jindal said he would be glad to read Mrs. Clinton’s book if she watched the controversial undercover Planned Parenthood videos.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s campaign responded by saying: “We get a lot of junk mail,” and showed a picture of the envelope they received from the Clinton camp marked “return to sender.”
The only GOP contender left off the book list was Jim Gilmore, the former Virginia governor, running at less than 1 percent in the polls.
