Clifford D. May deserves our commendation for bringing some logic and common sense into the boycott-Israel issue (“Jobless and desperate Palestinians,” Web, Oct. 27). It takes a tortured mind to believe that depriving Palestinians of well-paying jobs assists them, and that to force an Israeli entrepreneur to retreat to a well-trained workforce and a familiar language is a form of punishment. True, the boycotter achieves a cheap and painless feeling of moral superiority, but that is of little help to the Palestinians.
