Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky vowed Wednesday to “filibuster” the budget deal that making its way through Congress “will explode the deficit.”

In his opening remarks at the GOP presidential debate, Mr. Paul warned the budget deal that member of the “Washington establishment from both parties” ushered through the House earlier in the day would push the nation deeper and deeper into a sea of red ink.

“It allows President Obama to borrow unlimited amounts of money. I will stand firm. I will spend every ounce of energy to stop it,” Mr. Paul said. “I will begin tomorrow to filibuster it and I ask everyone in American to call Congress tomorrow and say enough is enough: no more debt.”

The proposal is now heading to the Senate, where GOP leaders are trying to line up votes for the proposal.
