Former New York Gov. George Pataki criticized the climate-change deniers in the GOP, arguing that the federal government should provide incentives to entrepreneurs that are seeking ways to curb greenhouse gases.
Speaking at the Republican undercard presidential debate in Colorado, Mr. Pataki complained that too often Republicans question science that “everyone accepts.”
“I mean, it is ridiculous that in the 21st century we are question whether or not vaccines are the appropriate way to go — of course they are,” he said.
“It is also not appropriate to think that human activity — putting CO2 into the atmosphere — doesn’t make the Earth warmer. All things being equal, it does. It is uncontroverted,” Mr. Pataki said.
Mr. Pataki said Republicans should embrace technology that helps to further reduce emissions.
“Government’s role is to incentivize innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit in America,” he said. “We could have far more clean energy.”
