JERUSALEM (AP) — An Israeli hospital says a dual Israeli-American citizen critically wounded in a Palestinian attack two weeks ago has died of his wounds.
Hospital spokeswoman Hadar Elboim says 76-year-old Richard Lakin died Tuesday.
Lakin was wounded on Oct. 13 when two Palestinian men boarded a bus in Jerusalem and began shooting and stabbing passengers. Another assailant rammed a car into a bus station before stabbing bystanders in a near-simultaneous attack that day.
Lakin’s passing brings the death toll from those two attacks to four, making it the deadliest day for Israelis in five weeks of violence that erupted over tensions surrounding a Jerusalem holy site.
In all, 11 Israelis have been killed, mostly in stabbings, while 52 Palestinians, including 30 identified by Israel as attackers, have been killed by Israeli fire.
