ASHBURN — The Washington Redskins (2-4) will be short four starters when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3) at FedEx Field on Sunday.
Cornerbacks Chris Culliver (left knee) and DeAngelo Hall (toe), wide receiver DeSean Jackson (hamstring) and center Kory Lichtensteiger (neck/shoulder) all did not participate in Friday’s practice and are listed as out.
Tight end Jordan Reed has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol, though the team is awaiting written confirmation from the independent neurologist. Left tackle Trent Williams is schedule to meet with a neurologist on Friday afternoon but coach Jay Gruden has said this week that he expects them to play on Sunday.
“Both had no setbacks whatsoever, but they still have to be cleared and have no symptoms before they play,” Gruden said.
Running back Chris Thompson, who sustained a lower back injury in last week’s 34-20 loss to the New York Jets, is listed as doubtful. He did not participate in practice this week.
“His back still has some swelling to it,” Gruden said. “That’s a concern. He’s a tough kid. To finish that game like he did last week against the Jets shows what kind of toughness he has. I don’t know if I want to put him in a situation with that much pain. He’s already undersized as it is and that’s a tough position to play. If he feels he can go, we’d have to think about it.”
Defensive ends Jason Hatcher (knee) and Stephen Paea (back) and inside linebacker Keenan Robinson (heel) are all considered questionable. Robinson was a full participant on Friday, while Hatcher and Paea were limited.
Paea was active last week, but did not play a snap. The Redskins had seven key players on the inactive last game and were forced to keep Paea active. He said he feels a lot better this week and expects to play on Sunday.
Cornerback Bashaud Breeland (knee), running back Matt Jones (toe), left tackle Ty Nsekhe (foot), wide receiver Andre Roberts (finger) and strong safety Trenton Robinson (ankle) are all listed as probable.
