BALTIMORE (AP) — Gov. Larry Hogan has announced a $135 million plan to redesign Baltimore’s local and express bus systems.
The Republican governor said Thursday the comprehensive plan will add 12 new high-frequency and color-coded routes to improve connections to jobs and other types of public transit.
Parts of the plan will be implemented soon, with the entire redesign expected by June of 2017.
Hogan was joined at the announcement by Baltimore City Council President Jack Young and state Sen. Cathy Pugh, a Baltimore Democrat.
In June, the Hogan administration said it would not move forward with a proposed light rail project in the city known as the Red Line. Hogan says that $2.9 billion plan “was a train to nowhere that was not going to accomplish anything.”
