Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he’s fine with Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s decision not to enter the 2016 presidential race, saying it will be easier to run against former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“I’m actually happy about it because I would rather run against Hillary,” Mr. Trump told USA Today. “I think beating Hillary on her record will not be very difficult. Her record has been atrocious.”

“I personally think [Biden] would have been somewhat tougher, yes,” he said.

Mr. Trump said he thought Mr. Biden would “hurt his legacy very badly” if he ran and lost.

“As a vice president, to run and lose, I think would have been very bad for him, and I think he probably saw that he was late,” Mr. Trump said.

“He probably looked at polls,” he said. “I’m a believer in polls. I only like them because I’ve been number one for 100 days now in a row, which is pretty good. But I am a believer in polls. … How often do you see where polls are wrong? Not too often.”
